2 Apartment Building Fires Displace 5 Families

power plant fire protectionHomestead, PA -- One firefighter was injured and five families were displaced when a fire tore through two apartment buildings.

The fire was reported around 12:30am this morning (cause unknown).

Several people made it out of the buildings unscathed.  The high-rise next door was evacuated as a precaution.

Tenant, Shannon Amati said, "One of the tenants screamed, 'You're house is on fire; you have to get out.'  So, I ran upstairs and got my children.  By the time we got to the door, flames were coming over the apartment." 

One firefighter suffered minor injuries.

In January, several apartment buildings were set on fire in Homestead.  The suspect was arrested.  At this time, it has not been determined if arson is the cause of the latest Homestead fire.
