Major Apartment Fire Displaces 200, burns cars and building

The fire destroyed five units in the building and five cars.  Nobody was hurt, but more than 200 residents were displaced for the night. 

The fire grew to 2-alarms.  It started near two parked cars before it spread to the building.  It took about an hour for the firefighters to knock out the blaze.  About 50 firefighters arrived at 4:30pm yesterday and the fire was extinguished by 5:30pm.

The car damage totaled about $150,000 and the property damage resulted in $700,000 in damages.

The cause is still under investigation.
