Streamwood, IL -- The oldest fire station in Streamwood (built in 1972) has been given a grant to offset the cost of fire sprinklers.
The Streamwood Fire Station was give $40,910 by the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency to install fire sprinklers at Station 31. The grant will cover 90% of the cost to install the fire sprinklers.
The fire station is the oldest in Streamwood and lacks automatic fire sprinklers. This grant will allow the department to have a suppression system that will keep assigned personnel, the facility, and equipment safe in the event of a fire.
The other fire station and government buildings in Streamwood already have automatic fire sprinklers.
