Deadly Fire Erupts as Police Speak to Suspect | F.E. Moran Fire Protection

Des Moines, IA -- One person was found dead following a house fire that erupted while police spoke to a suspect.

Police were called to the home just before 1am because of a dispute between neighbors.  In a press release, police revealed that a man inside the home refused to come to the door and was behaving erratically.  A short time later, the man threatened the officers with a firearm.

Officers spoke with the man through the door and saw the flames erupt in the home.  Officers forced open the door and tried to rescue the man, who resisted.  The officers were forced to escape the home without the man.

When fire crews arrived, they put out the fire and found the body of the man.  His identity is being withheld until family is notified.
