Fire Sprinkler Limits Fire Damage at Senior Home | F.E. Moran Fire Protection

St. Mary's County -- Deputy State Fire Marshals investigated a fire that ignited in a senior apartment and activated fire sprinklers.

A 72 year old female occupant woke to find a small fire in her bed at 11:30am.  She quickly evacuated her room and the fire grew large enough to activate the smoke detection and fire sprinklers.  The quick-acting fire sprinkler contained the fire and limited the damages to only $1,500.

The victim had mild smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.

The situation was considered under control within one minute of fifteen firefighters arriving to the scene.  The fire was determined to have been caused by smoking materials.  The victim is being temporarily relocated while the apartment is being cleaned.
