Chicago, IL -- Fire tore through a high-rise in Chicago's Hyde Park on Tuesday night, sending two senior citizens to the hospital.

Flames could be seen shooting through the windows of the unit on the 17-story building.  Firefighters responded at 10:47pm.  The fire was contained to one room and was extinguished quickly.

Two elderly people lived in the apartment - a 64 year old woman and a 67 year old man.  Both were taken to the hospital for medical evaluation.  Chicago Fire Department Commander Frank Valez said they were not injured and their hospital visit was precautionary.

No one was displaced as a result of the fire and the building was not evacuated.  The fire is being investigated.
