Fire sprinklers contain warehouse fire

Ottawa, IL -- The fire department spent 10 hours extinguishing a fire in a warehouse Thursday.

A water flow alarm alerted the fire department of a fire at a warehouse at 4:02am on Thursday.  Within three minutes, fire units went to the fire.  The fire ignited in a 30,000 square foot building.

When fire crews investigated, they found a fire and began operations to extinguish the fire.  The fire was deep-seated and in the middle of a large section of pallets and boxes containing plastic bottles.  Eighteen firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze, find hotspots, and ventilate the building.

Luckily, the warehouse sustained only minor structural damage.  The operating fire sprinklers kept the fire controlled while firefighters fought to extinguish it.
