Construction at GlobalFoundries has been temporarily halted after a fatal construction accident. Michael Hauf, 54, was a subcontractor working as a part of a six-man crew installing an industrial air exchanger on the fourth floor.
Hauf died while trying to install the air exchanger. No word on what type of accident caused his fatal injuries.
The construction project he was part of has been going on since 2009. It includes a 90,000 square foot extension on the fab and a 560,000 square foot Technology Development Center.
Roughly 3,000 construction workers are on the site each day working to complete this project.
