A repeal of Indiana's common construction wage for public projects was sent to Governor Mike Pence.
Pence has said he will sign it.
The house voted 54-40, agreeing on the Senate version of House Bill 1019. This bill eliminates a system that allows local boards to set contractor wages for public projects worth $350,000+.
The vote came when it was acknowledged that the bill had errors and one speech in favor of the bill was ruled out of order when the Democrat lawmaker suggested that GOP members were being directed by wealthy conservative activists.
Supporters of the bill say it will lead to higher wages for construction workers; however, it will be at the cost of taxpayers.
