Contractors added 48k jobs in December and 290k in all of 2014. That is a 9 year high! This surge in hiring helped unemployment move to 5.6%.
The construction industry hiring is key to middle class economic growth. "They're well-paying job that don't require an enormous amount of schooling,"said economist Diane Swonk, Mesirow Financial.
While the U.S. has only gained back 30% of the jobs it lost in the recession, in 2014, it gained back jobs at twice the rate of 2013. The future is looking bright.
In 2015, 250k-350k jobs are predicted to be created.
